Course Information & Studio Policy (2026)

Piano Lessons

Private piano lessons are available both in-person and online.

Every lesson is individually tailored to the student’s age, musical interests, learning style, and long-term goals. Lessons follow a structured yet flexible approach designed to encourage steady progress while making music enjoyable and rewarding.

Lessons may include:

• Piano Performance & Technique
• Music Theory & Harmony
• Rhythm Development & Sight Reading
• Ear Training & Improvisation
• Music History & Appreciation
• Classical, Contemporary, Pop, New Age, Cinematic & World Music
• Composition & Orchestration
• Music Production (Mixing, Mastering & Music Software)
• ABRSM & AMEB Examination Preparation (upon request)

Complimentary Trial Lesson

A 20-minute complimentary trial lesson is offered to all new students.

This session provides an opportunity for both the student and teacher to become familiar with one another, discuss musical goals, assess the student’s current level, and determine the most suitable learning pathway before enrolment.

Lesson Duration & Fees (2026)

Lessons are held once per week, and tuition fees are payable in advance.

Lesson Fees

• 30 Minutes: AUD $60
• 45 Minutes: AUD $80
• 60 Minutes: AUD $100

Lesson Packages

Single Lesson

Available for 45-minute studio lessons only.

5-Lesson Package

Available for 30, 45 and 60-minute lessons.

• Five consecutive weekly lessons.
• Designed for students who can commit to regular weekly attendance.

10-Lesson Package

Available for 30, 45 and 60-minute lessons.

• Ten consecutive weekly lessons.
• Includes one courtesy absence, allowing the package to extend to a maximum of 11 weeks, if required.

Home Lessons

Available for 45-minute and 60-minute lessons only, subject to availability.

A travel fee will be quoted individually before lessons commence based on travel distance, travel time, and associated costs.

Reserving Your Lesson Time

Lesson times are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

A student’s regular weekly lesson time is confirmed only after payment for the selected lesson package has been received.

Your tuition reserves an exclusive weekly lesson time within the studio timetable. Because this time is reserved specifically for your child, it cannot normally be offered to another student if a lesson is missed.

For this reason, families are kindly encouraged to enrol only when they are able to commit to regular weekly attendance throughout their selected package.

Consistent attendance is one of the most important factors in successful musical development. Students who attend lessons regularly generally achieve stronger progress, greater confidence, and better long-term results.

Student Attendance Policy

5-Lesson Package

The 5-Lesson Package is intended for five consecutive weekly lessons and does not include student absences.

10-Lesson Package

The 10-Lesson Package includes one courtesy absence during the package period.

Additional student absences beyond the package allowance are normally considered forfeited and cannot be credited, refunded, transferred, or replaced with make-up lessons.

As each lesson time has been reserved exclusively for the student, missed lessons cannot normally be recovered once the scheduled lesson time has passed.

Injuries & Temporary Physical Limitations

A piano lesson involves much more than simply playing the instrument.

Students experiencing temporary injuries—such as a broken finger, hand, wrist, arm, or other physical limitation—are generally encouraged to attend their lesson whenever they are medically able to do so.

Lessons can be adapted to suit the student’s condition while allowing meaningful musical progress to continue.

Depending on the student’s circumstances, lessons may include:

• Score Analysis
• Musical Interpretation
• Composition
• Examination Preparation
• Practice Strategies
• Performance Skills

For this reason, temporary physical injuries do not necessarily require lessons to be missed.

Illness

If a student is experiencing a contagious illness, they are kindly asked to remain at home.

Where practical and appropriate, the lesson may be converted to an online lesson instead of being missed.

Late Arrival

Students arriving late are welcome to attend the remainder of their scheduled lesson.

To ensure fairness for all students and maintain the studio timetable, lessons will finish at the originally scheduled time and cannot be extended beyond the allocated lesson period.

Teacher Absences

If I am unable to teach due to illness, professional performances, recording sessions, concerts, family circumstances, or other unforeseen commitments, students will never lose their lesson.

A make-up lesson, alternative lesson time, or package extension will always be provided.

Home Practice

Students are encouraged to practise regularly between lessons.

Consistent home practice greatly enhances musical progress and allows students to gain the maximum benefit from their weekly lessons.

Practice recommendations will be provided according to each student’s age, level, and individual learning goals.

Communication

Every effort will be made to respond to enquiries as promptly as possible during normal business hours.

Enrolment

Enrolment in any lesson package confirms acceptance of the policies outlined in this document.

These policies have been carefully developed through many years of teaching experience to provide a consistent, fair, and professional learning environment while supporting every student’s musical development.
